Visions of Peace: Transitions between Violence and Peace in Latin America

The CIHAC-CALAS Digital Documentation Center is a repository created by the CALAS Regional Center for Central America and the Caribbean and the Research Laboratory "Visions of Peace: Transitions between violence and peace in Latin America", attached to the Center for Historical Research of Central America (CIHAC) of the University of Costa Rica.

This archive makes available, in open access mode, a wide variety of historical documents and archives from Central America and the Caribbean in particular and Latin America in general, in order to promote and support research and conceptual study of the relationship between peace and violence in the different axes of the Laboratory: the critical review of paradigmatic discourses on violence and war, as well as their cultural and artistic expressions, the study of processes, initiatives and strategies to achieve peace and the transitional processes that threaten peace, including the means and tools to maintain and strengthen it.

The Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS), headquartered at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, has as its main purpose the promotion, realization and dissemination of novel and innovative research projects in the area of Social Sciences and Humanities, both in Latin America and in Germany, specifically linked to the general theme of the program, namely "Confronting Crises: Transdisciplinary Perspectives from Latin America".
